Here’s a quick story, since I’ve got a busy day—and night!—ahead at Malice Domestic. Venita Blackburn’s “Chew” was published by SmokeLong Weekly this past Monday, and it’s a tight and surprising little piece about a father and son in circumstances that are alternately perhaps familiar (a trip to the principal’s office) and markedly unfamiliar and unsettling. A beautiful last line caps the whole thing off. — Art Taylor
