Todd Johnson, author of the new novel The Sweet By And By, visits North Carolina this week for a trio of readings and signings. An N.C. native, Johnson found fame far beyond the state’s borders (including a Tony Award nomination for producing The Color Purple on Broadway) before returning home in the setting for his debut novel, which was name the “Read of the Month” in the March Southern Living, with critic Wanda McKinney calling the novel “quite simply one of the most beautifully written books you’ll ever read.” Johnson visited The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines today and visits Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh on Thursday evening, April 16, and McIntre’s Books in Fearrington Village on Friday, April 17.
Also on this week’s calendar, Brett Friedlander, co-author of Chasing Moonlight: The True Story of Field of Dreams’ Doc Graham, begins his series of area readings, appearing at the Fayetteville Barnes & Noble on Thursday, April 16, and at Pomegranate Books in Wilmington on Friday, April 17.
