The Washington Independent Review of Books has published my review of Tony Lee Moral’s A Century of Hitchcock: The Man, The Myths, The Legacy—a book I’ll admit I wanted to appreciate more than I did.
Moral’s mission here seems a solid one: to revisit and revise some of the misconceptions perpetrated by Donald Spoto’s biographies of Hitchcock several decades ago. But that focus permeates other aspects of the book, overshadowing an examination of Hitchcock’s longer/larger legacy.
