Honorable Mention: Best American Mystery Stories

I’m stunned and honored that my story “Precision” has been named among “Other Distinguished Mystery Stories” in the anthology Best American Mystery Stories 2015, edited by James Patterson and Otto Penzler. The story, which appeared in Gargoyle‘s Summer 2014 issue (issue 61, available here), is about a safecracker who has tried to put his criminal past behind him but gets pulled into one more job—possibly his last one—and it features alternating points-of-view, including one in the second-person. What a thrill to have my work honored here.

The anthology boasts many terrific authors—including stories by Doug Allyn, Lee Child, Jeffrey Deaver, Brendan DeBois, John M. Floyd, Richard Lange, Kyle Minor, and Joyce Carol Oates (among others)—and lots of friends are sharing the honorable mention category as well, including Patti Abbott, David Edgerley Gates, Rob W. Hart, Robert Lopresti, Todd Robinson, and Tim L. Williams.

Congrats to all—and can’t wait to see the book itself!
